Catamount Institute - Full-time Non-exempt - Development Coordinator

This position is currently grant-funded and continued employment could be dependent on available funding as determined on a fiscal basis. Current funding ends 12/31/2020

Primary responsibilities will be to work with the Executive Director, Education Program Coordinators, Generation Wild Pikes Peak Region coalition members, and the City of Colorado Springs to plan, and secure additional funding for the Catamount Institute and Generation Wild of the Pikes Peak Region program. Reporting and evaluating of the outdoor and environmental education programs to share impact throughout the year.


  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Development/fundraising experience – grant writing a plus

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Experience in developing, managing, and evaluating budget spreadsheets.

  • Working knowledge of business applications for Google (Gmail & Drive), Dropbox, Windows, and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent interpersonal/relationship building skills, written, and oral communication

  • Ability to work in non-standard workplaces, including outdoors

  • Ability to often work evening, weekends, and limited overtime hours to accommodate programs and represent the organization at public events

  • Demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm, maturity, initiative, sense of humor, flexibility, team spirit, and commitment to mission

  • Ability to travel between facilities and outside office activities using private vehicle, as needed

  • Be able to lift up to 50# for equipment and supplies for events and other needs and to move around facilities freely

  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting

  • Be able to verbalize thoughts, speak, hear and write clearly and communicate with others in person, email and by phone

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with Catamount Institute Executive Director, Development Committee, and Contract Grant Writer to identify grants, sponsorship, fundraising opportunities, and other revenue generation opportunities.

  • Monitor on-going Generation Wild financials in keeping with both grant budget parameters and financial processes to verify and assist program providers in applying for grant reimbursements

  • Collect necessary data for reporting to Great Outdoors Colorado, as well as reporting to the, City, and coalition partners

  • Write/Review grants. Track grant schedules, due dates, and reporting requirements.

  • Track donor/sponsor communications in Little Green Light

  • Cultivate relationships with corporate sponsors, donors, and community members

  • Collaborate with Catamount Institute staff and Coalition program providers to evaluate and report on programs beyond GOGO requirements. Work with Marketing Coordinator to create impact reports

  • Assist in developing evaluation criteria to track the short- and long-term success of the effort.

  • Contribute to additional goals as identified by the coalition

  • Attend Training and seminars as directed to maintain or attain relevant knowledge and certifications needed to support the programs and work

  • Support Executive Director and staff as needed and directed


This is a full-time 40-hour/week, non-exempt position – Reports to Executive Director
Overtime must be pre-approved by Executive Director

Salary $30,000-$32,000 based on experience
